    It was the worst day of trout fishing I have seen in years....never got above 28 degrees....the wind blew at 30 mph plus and it snowed off an on all day! It didn't dampen the spirits of the BOOTHEEL BOYS however!!

Winter Snow On The White

It finally happened!! We had two days of winter which produced 3 inches of snow over night. If you have not fished the White & Norfork during a snow you have missed a very rewarding experience.

Right after the snow we got out on the river and had a super morning while enjoying the wonderful scenery. Caught a lot of fish but no large ones. Rapala, Rogue and Jigs....you don't need another lure to enjoy your fishing time!

Catch and Release News

We have been catching fish like crazy.....Jigs, Rapalas, Rogues and also on the fly rod......You folks certainly missed February 1st! That is the first day that the CATCH & RELEASE AREA IS OPEN BELOW BULLSHOALS DAM....IT CLOSES OCTOBER 1ST AND YOU CAN'T FISH IT UNTIL FEBRUARY 1ST.

Boats and fishermen were wall to wall trying to get to the fish that had not been pursued for four full months. Think about that for next year! The really good news is that now you can use as many treble hooks as you want to IN ALL CATCH & RELEASE AREAS.....you just have to pinch down the barbs.It certainly improves your chances of hooking up with Mister Big Boy!!

Bass Break

It was a good way to relax a little bit and catch some Bass. I went to Lake Of The Ozarks for a few days to "stickbait" some Largemouth Bass! My very good friend, Kenneth Giddens, and I waged war on the "finney foes"....they won't forget us very easily!!

The White River came up 6/7 feet in a matter of hours after a 3.5 foot raise on the Buffalo. The water has been very muddy but it is already getting that greennish brown look and that is a GOOD THING if you are trying to catch a big Brown.

The weather is supposed to be fantastic this whole week so we will fish a lot and try for a trophy! Come see us at LINGER'S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE.....Now is the time to think about booking dates for March, April & May!!

Trapping With Linger and Friends

What do you do when you have fished seven days in a row in the off season?? You go TRAPPING with the best trappers our area has to offer! Bill Bradbury and Jim Spence run about 50 traps every day from November through February. Bill was kind enough to take me on a true "learning experience as they ran their traps one day. The knowledge they have and watching them go through their routine was really fun....these two guys should be on television...They put Swamp People to shame...book trips now for the Spring at Linger's Guide Service & Fishing Lodge!

Winter Weather Has Never Been This Beautiful

I have lived here in the White River Basin for 20 years and can tell you  that this Fall/Winter may have never happened like this before. The weather has been absolutely beautiful and is on schedule to continue for another couple of weeks.......Jim Carrol took one of the most interesting "chain locking" falls in the boat yesterday that I have ever seen....I gave him a firm #9!!

The good news is that a nice Brown came just before the fall. I can tell you that the fishing is great, has been great all Fall/Winter and will only continue....Come fish with us at LINGER'S GUIDE SERVICE AND FISHING LODGE. We will show you a good time on the WHITE!

It was a good day on Norfork Lake.....we caught Largemouth Bass on soft plastics, jerk baits and crank baits.....Kenneth Giddens had the big fish for the day.....Mike Logan added the moral support and plenty of reasons to have some laughs!

What a day it was....treasure found around "bent trees" by my "bent tree Guru".....a new found creek high in the Boston Mountains and a family cemetery dating back to the very early 1800's.

    WELCOME TO LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE A FIVE STAR FISHING EXPERIENCE My name is Jim Brentlinger, owner/operator of Linger’s Guide Service & Fishing Lodge in Norfork, Arkansas. I am a full time guide who has lived and guided here on the White & North Fork rivers since 1994. I began coming here with my family in 1959 and was eventually fortunate to move here after retirement and started guiding. Linger’s Giude Service & Fishing Lodge was started six years ago and it has turned out to be much more than we had ever dreamed. My heart has always been dedicated to fishing and hunting since childhood. Throughout my various careers I always made time for the outdoors and especially fishing. Owning and operating print advertising sales companies had its rewards for 24 years but I never lost my desire to be in the Ozarks and enjoy the fishing it had to offer. During those years one of my biggest accomplishments was to fish the professional bass fishing circuit and qualified in the top 30 in the nation twice. When you come to Linger’s Guide Service & Fishing Lodge you are treated in a professional manner by professional people and your total enjoyment is our #1 goal! We want you to have a good time so not only will you return to see us, which 82% of our customers have, but hopefully you will refer us to your friends, family and business associates. Our 6000 sq. ft. lodge sits 538 feet above the world famous White River and only a down stream a mile from the confluence of the White & North Fork rivers. The view from our 800 feet of covered deck is absolutely spectacular and accounts for many an hour of watching sunsets after a full day of fishing. The lodge is perfect for up to six singles or up to three couples. Our accommodations are definitely unmatched in the area and we are the only lodge that offers lodging complete with all meals. Being the outdoor person that you are you will enjoy the furnishings, the view and the atmosphere that exists here. The relaxed atmosphere combined with our professional approach to the guide service/lodge business makes us the finest facility on the White & North Fork rivers!! Lodging rates include breakfast & dinner, shore lunch each day is included in the fishing rates. Breakfasts consist of eggs(cooked various ways)bacon, ham, boudin, potato patties, toast, coffee and orange juice. Dinners are rib-eye steak, broasted chicken or grilled pork tenderloin with all the trimmings. Whit River trout fishing is one of the finest venues in the United States which is known by all who have ever traveled here. You can expect a daily catch of 40 to 50 trout and most all of the fish are caught on artificial bait. All you have to do is show up at Linger’s Guide Service. We furnish rods, reels, bait, lures, shuttle service to and from the river, soft drinks, bottled water, fish cleaning, packaging and all the ice you need during your stay. When you fish multiple days you will be taken to various parts of the river so you get to see remarkable scenery and different parts of the river. At least one day that you are here we offer a COMPLETE shore lunch on the river. Lunch consists of fried trout fillets, fried potatoes with onions, special “River Beans”, cole slaw and cookies for dessert. After this meal you will certainly enjoy your trip back up the river and look forward to that evening on the deck overlooking the White River! Coffee is ready at 6:00 a.m. each day. Breakfast is ready to be served after 6:30 a.m. We need to leave for the river by 7:45 a.m. and in the water by 8:00 a.m. We stop at 11:30 a.m. to prepare your shore lunch and are back at the lodge no later than 4 p. m. Dinner is served by 7 p.m. each evening. FISHING is the same here all year round due to the fact that all our water is hydro electric discharge from Bull Shoals & Norfork Lakes. No matter what the air temperature, the water temperature stays the same all year due to the daily generation from the dams. The only decision you have to make is what type of weather you like to be out fishing in as the trout will bite the same 365 days a year.   • It has been a good four days of fishing.....this brown came yesterday morning and was taken on a 1/8th White River Zig Jig. The area to fish and the technique makes all the difference between catching them and not catching them.

Flood

    This is just a sampling of what is going on here.....the flood today is more than the flood that made the national news 2 weeks ago....not only have we had a flood but they turned on ALL 12 of the flood gates on the Norfork River. Rainbow trout dock floated by my lodge 2 hours ago....Genes trout dock is barely attached to the bank and just about to go!! PLUS they have all 8 generators on at Bull Shoals.....that water is not here yet and the Buffalo River won't crest here until tomorrow!!

    In Arkansas, leaves normally start to change color at the beginning of October when the temperature starts to drop. The most brilliant colors can be found later in the season, at the beginning of November. As you can see from these photographs, this year's seasonal peak colors are late. Which might "leave" (pun intended) us to see more colors later this month. Come find out! This is an exciting moment on the White River. Early starts in the morning are breathtaking. In between catches, quick thoughts of "reeling in the big one" flash through your mind. "Maybe this cast," you think . . . one never knows.
